I've debanded just about all my bbhn nodes a year ago and wasted $70 doing so. Luckily, I kept the original crystal installed and created a switch to switch between the two so I could still use them. You can deband your router, but you risk each one not being able to connect to the another. They will see each other in a wifi scan, but due to other internal circuitry under that metallic hood, the oscillator will not lock onto the new frequency and you will be SOL. And as a side note, changing the crystal also changes the timing with the on-board serial connector thus rendering it useless to standard serial-enabled appliances. My recommendation is to just leave it alone and stick on 2.4GHz. |
