Greetings,

I keep seeing posts where people are picking up used WRT54GL routers for $20.00 or less.  I'm not finding any locally (Utah) and the best online option I have seen is amazon.com for $50.00.  Is there another resource, local or online, that I can find used WRT54GL routers for cheap?  I would like to pick up several, so the cheaper the better.

The current "new price" for a WRT54GL is about $50.00. Other prices are for used equipment, sometimes available from second hand stores. We have a second hand store in the Austin, TX area called "Goodwill Computer Werks". They stock what gets donated so it is a "luck" thing when shopping. When we can find them used, the WRT54GL and other usable versions go for about $20.00, used. -Glenn KD5MFW

I have had luck online on Craigslist, and also ShopGoodwill,com which is a auction done by goodwill.

Shipping costs are a killer. Just got two nice ones off eBay for $34 and $36 shipped. Arrived in two days. My first 54GS was just $20 at a hamfest.

Be careful on eBay.  Of three "WRT54GL" routers I recently picked up, for an average price of $25, ONE was the real deal.  One was a WRT54G version 3.0, compatible so I kept it.  The third was a WRT54G version 6.0, unusable for this application (not enough RAM) Fortunately that seller is accepting a return, so it's on its way back.

Since then I've begun asking for and getting serial numbers on the listings I am interested in.  Most sellers are glad to oblige.
